Abstract

En Some biological details on 7 specimens of the sharpnose sevengill shark, Heptranchias perlo (Bonnaterre, 1788) caught in Sicilian waters are reported. The specimens are: a 85 cm total length mature male caught on July 26th 2000 in the Messina Strait off Ganzirri, 5 specimens ranging 70 to 80 cm total length caught in early June 2000 between Linosa and Porto Empedocle, a 95 cm total length specimen found on November 21st 1989 at the fish market in Catania. The set of jaws of the specimens from Ganzirri and Catania were preserved.
