Abstract

The hard scattering processes γγ → PP, VV and PV (P and V denoting any member of respectively the pseudoscalar and vector nonets) are calculated in view of investigating in detail the consequences of SU(3) symmetry breaking effects. Our results greatly differ from those derived earlier. Comparison is done with the available experimental data on γγ → π + π − and γγ → K + K − cross sections. Some other predictions are also given.
