Abstract
This article consists of two parts. The first is a brief account of the life and work of S. K. Pichorides. It is intended to provide basic information for those who did not know him and it is written in English. The second is more personal. It is an attempt to revive part of his ideas, style, and human behavior through writings, testimonies, and souvenirs. It is written in French, the language in which he and I used to communicate with each other. It may help those who knew him to conjure up his warm and charming personality.
