Abstract

A computer code based on Monte Carlo technique has been developed to study the response of CR-39 detectors to fast neutrons. The code is written in the C++ programming language and uses a tested pseudo random number generator and neutron cross-section data library ENDF/B-VI. H, C and O recoils as well as nuclear reactions have also been taken into account. The calculated track registration efficiency of CR-39 is found to be dependent on the neutron energy and detector thickness.
