Studying the Land in Wole Soyinka’s “The Jero Plays”

Abstract

article looks at two play-texts (more commonly called, The Jero Plays) by the Nigerian literary figure, Wole Soyinka from a certain angle. It draws this angle from the theoretical framework of ecocriticism, or ecological literary criticism. Through this kind of a reading, issues of the local natural environment, the position of the land and its connection with the human inhabitants in the chosen texts are raised. literary figure's concern about the environment and his eco-sensitivity is also noticed by this exercise.
