Abstract

The electromagnetic waves (EWs) propagation on the rough sea surface simulated by the parabolic equation (PE) method is presented in this paper. The sea surface is simulated by the Elfouhaily spectrum and Longuet-Higgins model. In this sea surface propagation model, the relations between the effects of the rough sea surface on the EWs propagation and the wind speed, wind direction and the frequency of the EWs are studied. The simulation results of the rough sea surface model are compared with those of the Miller-Brown model. It demonstrates that, in a certain extent, the influence of the rough sea surface on the EWs propagation increases with the wind speed and the angle between the wind direction and the propagation direction, and decreases with the frequency of the EWs.
