Abstract

This article is intended to provide an introduction to bibliographic information on working women. Whereas most research has focused on women in business and professional careers, this essay will emphasize resources pertinent to the 80% of the female labor force who continue to occupy low-paying, low-status jobs. This bibliography describes and evaluates bibliographic sources from the interdisciplinary field of women's studies that can assist resaerch on women in clerical, service, and blue-collar occupations. The sources are bibliographies, indexes, directories, handbooks, nonprint resources, and periodicals. Because of the currency of the subject and the lack of complete bibliographic access to the literature, a list of organizations is also included.
