Abstract

The Millon Adolescent Clinical Inventory (MACI) supplants the Millon Adolescent Personality Inventory (MAPI)(C) for use in assessing clinical cases within the teenage population. The MAPI is intended only for nonclinical educational and vocational appraisals and can be used with teenagers who have a sixth-grade or higher reading level. Validity is a consideration at all phases of test development, not a quality to be examined once inventory items have been finalized. The MACI includes nine Clinical Indices oriented to such serious problems as eating dysfunctions, substance dependencies, mood disorders, and nonconformity behaviors. The theory on which the MACI is grounded reflects advances both in Millon's personality theory and recent developments in the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual (DSM). The theory on which the MACI is grounded reflects advances both in Millon's personality theory and recent developments in the DSM.
