Abstract

In a hybrid microgrid (HMG), the interlinking converter (ILC) is typically used to connect DC and AC microgrids (MGs) and responsible for appropriate power sharing between the AC and DC sides. In the autonomous mode, aside from power sharing in a MG, power sharing extension all through HMG is alluring. Introducing the battery energy storage system (BESS) in the ILC can really decrease the exchanged energy of HMG and consequently diminish the losses. Transfer of power from AC MG to DC MG and vice versa is achieved by ILC droop control strategy. This paper accomplishes an extension of the hierarchical control system for the ILC between AC and DC buses in the HMG. A modified ILC integrated to the BESS proposed as a converter topology. A power sharing strategy managing the power flow between DC and AC MGs. Using the proposed ILC amend the power sharing and power quality characteristics. Simulations are carried out in the MATLAB/Simulink software.
