Abstract
A total of 70 seronegative subjects were vaccinated and exposed 134 susceptible (seronegative) children and adults in their family groups and an additional 52 children in nursery schools. None of the susceptible contacts demonstrated clinical or serologic evidence of rubella. All vaccinates had a hemagglutination inhibition antibody response with a geometric mean titer of 55. The Cendehill rubella vaccine is an effective vaccine with minimal side effects, and its use carries little or no risk to susceptible contacts.
