Abstract
Modern metal alloys used in the tooling industry often consist of expensive and rare metals, impacting affordability and sustainability. This research explores the potential of mineral ceramics, mainly composed of readily available aluminum oxide (Al2O3), as an alternative for high-performance engineering ceramics. This research highlights the advantages and disadvantages of mineral ceramics over various metal alloys. Further exploration could refine properties and expand industrial adoption, contributing to a more responsible and efficient materials landscape.
