Abstract

The bio-active Cu nano-materials are one of the emerging classes of the nano-antimicrobials that provide the complimentary characteristics and impacts, in comparison with other nano-size metals, like the nano-particles of silver or zinc oxide. In the present paper, Cu nano-antimicrobials will be studied and categorized at first, as a function of the methods of preparation, and secondly, it they will be classified as function of target micro-organism which is utilized to test their anti-microbial activities. Anti-microbial activities of the Cu-based nano-structures are dependent upon microbial species and upon experimental setup. Thereby, in the present work details will be provided on approaches, and on the experimental details like the micro-organism strain, contact time, interacting species concentration, and so on. Finally, the real-life applications of the Cu-based nano-antimicrobials will be discussed in brief.
