Abstract

In findings that the author called “glaring” and “startling,” a newly published study documents an association between lower levels of educational attainment and steeper increases in recent drug overdose deaths. The disparities in overdose deaths based on education level have become particularly prominent since 2018, a finding that the investigator has attributed in part to the effects of a dynamic opioid market.
