Abstract

A coupled model between two-phase flow in horizontal wellbore and vadose in the reservoir was set up by using the theories of non–piston-like displacement and variable mass flow. The regularities of watercut change in horizontal well mouth in both heterogeneous reservoir and homogeneous reservoir were compared according to the model. In order to study the influencing factors on water breakthrough of horizontal wells, sensitivity of the size, the width, and the position of the high-permeability zone was analyzed. The result shows that position of the high-permeability zone is the main factor that affects watercut in horizontal well mouth and can be approximately found out according to the watercut curve.
