Abstract

In hot summer, if the double-skin facade has poor air flow in the cavity, air temperature inside the space will become heating source of a building as a result of overheating. Thereby, the role of reducing the indoor temperature cannot work. So far, Double-skin facade technology is seldom reported applied in double-skin facade building in the low-latitude regions principally for insulating such as Guangzhou which is hot in summer. In this paper, passive evaporative cooling technology is applied in double-skin facade in Guangzhou. Focusing on the passive evaporative cooling double-skin facade experimental room and the double-skin facade compared room without spray as the testing object, analysis of thermal performance is carried out according to the experimental results. In that case, quantities of energy conservation and energy conservation efficiency for passive evaporative cooling experimental room in different orientations are calculated. Evidently, it is indicated from the calculating results that this double-skin facade building with new technology makes an obvious difference in energy conservation.
