Abstract

Formerly we discussed the influence of cutting conditions on the roughness of obtained surface at high speed precision turning. In this research, we measured the vibration of works and tools at no load running and cutting by a new designed vibration meter. And we found the following facts : - 1). Frequency of work's vibration are devided in two groups, the one is dependent on R. P. M. of spindle and the other is independent of it. 2). The former is forced vibration by the unbalance of rotating parts, irregular transmission of gear, etc. The latter is natural vibration of works. 3) Amplitude of work's vibration increases gradually when the revolution exceeds 500 r.p.m. 4). The effect of feed and depth of cut on the vibration is o recognized at precision cutting, but in very small chip area, the amplitude increases on the contrary. 5). Tools have only its natural vibration and it is much smaller than that of works.
