Abstract

The subgenus Harpopaederus Scheerpeltz, 1957, belongs to the genus Paederus sensu stricto (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Paederinae). Before our study, five species were recorded from China. In this paper, we describe three new species, Paederus (Harpopaederus) gracilacutus sp. n., from Shaanxi and Gansu, P. (H.) lineodenticulatus sp. n., from Sichuan, and P. (H.) dangchangensis sp. n., from Gansu, China. For the species P. (H.) gottschei Kolbe, 1886 recorded in Jilin and Heilongjiang, Northeastern China, male genitalia is dissected and illustrated. A key to eight Chinese species is presented in the paper. The types of the new species are deposited in IOZ-CAS (Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences).
