Abstract

It is a valuable question that how to evacuate the people rapidly and effectively in the large stadiums when the emergency event happened. The people has discontinuous, nonlinear and complex behavior characteristics in the evacuation process, and the architectural features of the stadiums have a direct impact on the evacuation time. In this paper, it studied on the relationship between the exit width, the thickness of the exit, the expected speed and the evacuation time using social force model. the results show that that there is an asymptotic relationship between the characteristics of the structures and the evacuation time, and the evacuation time reaches the optimal value with the change of the expected speed. The results can be used to guide the design of large stadiums and evacuation plans.
