Abstract

With the rapid development of highway projects, more and more long-span, curved, continuous, rigid frame bridges are built. However, there is very little research about the dynamic characteristics of curved, continuous, rigid frame bridges (especially the seismic response characteristics) to date. To analyze the seismic response, a long-span, continuous, rigid frame, curved bridge - WaYaoBao Bridge- with a double-thin, wall-high pier was taken as an example. Using midasFEA software, a structural, spatial, finite element bridge model was introduced. The Midas software was used to analyze the influence of radius of curvature on a bridge's seismic behavior. The seismic response of the curved, continuous, rigid frame in the incentives under the different direction was investigated. Finally, some beneficial conclusions were obtained which can provide reference for the research and design of similar bridges.
