Abstract

Oil and natural gas play a decisive role as national strategic resources. Tar sand oil, as a relatively rich oil and gas resource, will play an important role in alleviating the shortage of oil and gas resources in China. As for tar sands, the focus of current research is how to extract oil efficiently. Microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) is a method to improve oil recovery by using microorganisms, which has its unique advantages. So in this paper, the effect of microorganisms on tar sand oil and simulated oil was evaluated to determine the feasibility of its application in tar sand oil production. The studies mainly include: 1. Screening of functional microbes; 2. The factors affecting viscosity change of tar sand oil or simulated oil; 3. The factors affecting oil washing efficiency of tar sands and so on. The results provide preliminary exploration for the application of MEOR in tar sand production.KeywordsTar sand oilScreening of functional bacteriaViscosity changeOil washing efficiency
