Abstract

Objective To understand the status of professional identity of nursing undergraduate students in a university in Xinjiang and its relationship with time management disposition and achievement motivation, and to provide reference for the stability of nursing team and the development of nursing science. Methods Through a stratified cluster sampling method, a questionnaire survey was conducted on the professional identity, time management disposition and achievement motivation of 679 undergraduate nursing students from 4 grades. Results There were differences in professional identity and scores in different dimensions of undergraduate nursing students of different sex, grade and ethnicity, which were statistically significant.There were positive correlations between the four dimensions and total scores of undergraduate nursing students’ professional recognition the three dimensions and total scores of time management disposition. The influencing factors of professional identity were the value of the time management, self-efficacy of time management, motivation of pursuing success, motivation of avoiding failure, monitoring sense of time management, and the time management disposition and achievement motivation positively affected the professional identity. Conclusions The professional identity of undergraduate nursing students was closely related to time management tendency and achievement motivation.
