Abstract

Objective To reduce the material consuming, save the medical rust remover's cost, and ensure the cleaning quality of the instruments by improving the work model. Methods According to the key factors of increasing the cost of medical rust remover, the work model was adjusted properly, including setting up the target by knowing about the problems, confirming the problems to obtain the measurement data, analyzing the problems and figuring out the key minority, making the strategy to correct the mistakes, and making the controlling measures to ensure the effective implementation. In addition, the organization management was enforced, and the rust was removed collectively, at fixed period and quantity, group by group, and by fixed number of persons. Results The cost of medical rust remover had been saved greatly, the cleaning quality had been improved distinctly, and the number of scrapped medical instruments had been reduced. Compared with the period before the improvement, it had statistic meaning (P<0.01). Conclusions Through changing the improper work model applied by the sterilization and supply center, the cleaning quality of the rusted medical instruments can be ensured, and the cleaning and maintenance cost of the medical instruments can be controlled effectively.
