Abstract

Herein, Potassium-Aluminum carrageenan fiber-CAF-K,Al was prepared via wet spinning process with KCl as coagulation bath, AlCl3 as stretch bath and carrageenan solution as spinning dope. The mechanical properties of CAF-K,Al were tested with a mechanical tester and the result indicated that the mechanical strength of CAF-K,Al was higher than that of the control groups CAF-Ba,Ba and CAF-K,Ca. The flame retardant properties of CAF-K,Al were tested by limiting oxygen index, cone calorimeter, thermogravimetric analysis. The results showed that the flame retardant performance of CAF-K,Al was better than those of CAF-Ba,Ba and CAF-K,Ca.
