Abstract

The power consumption of the 1553B bus interface chips is too high and the size of these chips is too big for the small and nano satellites. To solve the preceding problem and realize the satellites miniaturization, three low power technologies of 1553B Bus are proposed in this paper. They are the design of ASIC or SOC chips including 1553B IP Core and related peripheral functions, the design of 1553B bus based on RS-485 transceivers, and the design of 1553B bus based on infrared communications. Every design is introduced. The three designs are tested and verified rational by the performance analysis based on the researches and results of the references. Finally, a promising low power design of 1553B Bus for Chinese satellites is presented. The 1553B protocol is realized by ASIC or SOC chips including 1553B IP Core and relevant peripheral functions, and the physical layer is realized by RS-485 transceivers. Design of 1553B bus based on infrared communications will also be used widely in some special applications, for example in the small and nano satellites.
