Study on the influencing factors of grain yield in China based on multiple linear regression

Abstract

Food is the necessary goods for human survival, and it is the important material basis for national economic development and social stability. The research on grain yield is of great significance. Therefore, this paper selects grain sown area, effective irrigation area, total power of agricultural machinery, chemical fertilizer application amount, disaster area and employment number of primary industry as explanatory variables, and grain yield as explained variables, collecting the relevant data from 1986 to 2019, using Eviews 8.0 software, and build multivariate regression model to explore the relationship between grain yield and its influencing factors. The results showed that grain sown area, effective irrigation area and chemical fertilizer application were positively correlated with grain yield, while disaster area was negatively correlated with grain yield. It is suggested that the government should protect the area of cultivated land and help farmers make efficient use of land, and urge and help farmers to use chemical fertilizer scientifically and reasonably. It should strengthen the construction of disaster early warning mechanism and popularize disaster prevention knowledge for farmers, so as to improve grain production.
