Abstract

The morphological characteristics, blooming process, pollen viability, stigma receptivity, pollen/ovule ratio, out-crossing index, and visitors of L. speciosa were studied in this paper. The morphological characteristics and blooming process were measured and described. The pollen viability of L. speciosa was high but declined rapidly from 36 h after pollen was scattered; the stigma receptivity maintained a high level in the first 2 d after blooming; the pollen/ovule ratio (P/O) was 1815-8270 and the out-crossing index (OCI) was 4. These results indicated that L. speciosa was a kind of cross-pollinating and entomophilous plant with self-crossing capability.
