Abstract

In recent year’s cold formed steel have achieved a considerable growth in construction field. Since they are light weight and easy to transport they are highly employed in steel structures rather than hot rolled steel. The cold formed steel can also be made in different desirable shapes and sections. In this paper different configurations of cold formed steel sections are employed as beams and columns. The sections include different configurations including lip, stiffeners and spacing between the webs. The beams are tested for flexural and torsional behavior whereas the columns are tested for compressive behavior. Initially the specimens were analytically analyzed using finite element software and then their results are compared with the experimental results.
