Abstract

Herein, MoS2 was deposited electrochemically on nickel foam (NF), copper foam (CuF) and carbon paper (CP). The samples were characterized by XRD, SEM and were used as cathodes for the nitrogen reduction reaction in an acidic medium. NH4+ concentration was determined by the indophenol blue method. Both the density of the cathodic current and the NH4+ concentration achieved their highest values with MoS2 deposited on copper foam. However, nickel foam was determined to be a higher-performance electrode material, which showed highest NRR efficiency, 3,62%, probably due to its higher ECSA value.
