Abstract

Solid biopolymer electrolytes in the form of gum tragacanth and lithium perchlorate doped with different weight ratios of propylene carbonate (10, 20, 30, and 40 wt%) were fabricated by solution casting method. The prepared electrolytes were studied for their electrical properties using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy. An ionic conductivity value of 1.06 × 10−3 Scm−1 was attained at 303 K. The temperature dependence of the electrolytes showed Arrhenius behaviour and the activation energy was calculated to be low for the maximum conducting electrolyte. Wagner's dc polarisation method's estimation of the ionic transference number shows that Li+ ions are the predominant conducting species.
