Abstract

Three polyether derivatives with different end-groups were synthesized using a green solvent-free method, which were used as ash-less multifunctional anti-corrosion lubricating additives. Friction tests confirmed their good lubrication performance. Their anti-corrosion ability was comprehensively studied by using weight loss, ASTM D665 and ASTM D130 methods. SEM-EDS, QCM and Micro-IR were used to explore the mechanism. The results suggested although polyether derivatives with both carbon–carbon double bond and carboxyl as end-groups showed the best adsorption ability, but the one only with carboxyl end-group had the best corrosion resistance.
