Abstract

To study the effect of seawater on the oxidation and heat release characteristics of coal, SEM and STA-FTIR experiments were used to study characteristic temperature, kinetic parameters and functional groups of coal samples before and after seawater treatment. Results showed that, after adding seawater, the number of pores and cracks of coal increased. Characteristic temperature T5, T6, T7, T8 decreased, and C (1:2) had the most significant effect. The activation energy of C (1:2) was lower than that of C (Raw), and Friedman method had the highest fitting degree. The content of oxygen-containing functional groups decreased, and the content of aliphatic functional groups and the structure of oxygen-containing alkali metals increased. The results indicated that adding seawater can promote the coal spontaneous combustion. The research has important practical significance for coal spontaneous combustion prevention in coal storage and transportation process.
