Abstract

For the dynamic and static characteristics of the gas static thrust bearing with micro-hole restrictors, a gas static thrust bearing with micro-hole restrictors was designed, manufactured, and experimented. The static stiffness and stability under different gas supply pressure and film thickness were studied. The following conclusions were drawn: the bearing static stiffness increases first and then decreases with the increase of gas film thickness, the bearing static stiffness increases with the increase of the supply pressure. The supply pressure and the film thickness have different effects on the micro-vibration of the bearing, as the supply pressure increases, the vibration amplitude of the bearing becomes larger, but the peak frequency of the bearing vibration is basically the same. As the thickness of the film increases, the vibration amplitude of the bearing increases first and then decreases, and the peak frequency of the bearing vibration has changed. The study provides an experimental basis for the practical application of the gas static thrust bearing with micro-hole restrictors under micro gas film thickness.
