Abstract

A new method for calibration of universal calibration curves with polydispersed polymers is presented. It is based on a model theory of concentration effects in GPC for polydispersed polymers. A general correlation between the peak hydrodynamic volumes and the elution volumes for polydispersed polymers was established. The chromatograms of polystyrene (PS), polydocylmethacrylate (PDCMA) and polytridecylmethacrylate (PTDMA) of different molecular weights and their distribution in THF solvent were studied. These experimental data were treated with the general relation and the universal calibration curves for mono- and polydispersed polymers were constructed. It is found that the two universal calibration curves with mono- and polydispersed polymers are in excellent agreement.
