Abstract

The authors studied the oxidation of wax by employing 52# wax as raw material, Co/SBA-15 as a catalyst, and air as an oxidant agent. They effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, and air flow were investigated. The experimental results indicated that the optimal experimental conditions were the following: oxidation temperature of 140°C, oxidation time of 5 hr, air flow of 0.6 L/min, and best cobalt loading of 15%. The obtained oxidation products of wax were light in color and luster, light in odor, and high in acid value. The characterization relating the structures of the catalyst with the composition of mesoporous molecular sieve is also presented.
