Abstract

The second-order cone programming (SOCP) is applied in head-related transfer function (HRTF) synthesis using the outputs of a broadband beamformer. The beamformer structure is constructed and the optimization problem of the HRTF synthesis is established. The optimal weighting vector of the beamformer is derived using SOCP optimization method. Then, the HRTF synthesis data are achieved via the outputs of the beamfomer. Considering the property of HRTF measurement database of KEMAR by MIT media lab, the mini-phase expression of the HRTF is used in the process of solving the optimization problem. The filter order is reduced and the beamformer structure is simplified through modification. The validity of the proposed synthesis method is verified by computer simulations.
