Abstract

Traditional soil strength research mainly focused on compressive shear or uniaxial tensile stress state, and rarely considered the tensile-shear coupling strength characteristics in soil. Based on the tensile-shear and compressive-shear coupling strength model established earlier, which consider the tensile-shear coupling strength comprehensively, relevant tests are carried out to verify the strength model. Different types of saturated clay are selected for the uniaxial tensile test, direct shear test and triaxial shear test. The strength model is verified based on experimental data and compared with the existing joint strength model, and the coupling strength model shows good applicability and accuracy. The result shows the strength model can accurately describe the nonlinear strength characteristics of soil under tensile-shear coupling stress.
