Abstract
Abstract This article puts forward the spatiotemporal dynamic models for urban growth management by integrating Forretter's Urban Dynamics and Cellar Automation. On the basis of these models, SME, a spatial modelling software platform developed by Institute of Ecological Economics, Vermont University, is used to simulate urban growth in Beijing Metropolitan Area, China. The article concludes that an important approach to explore the complexity of urban growth is to build comprehensive, discrete spatiotemporal dynamic models.
