Abstract

The use of solar shading in buildings necessarily affects energy balance and energy demand. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of the most common solar shading for kindergartens to improve their energy and environmental performance. The research considers different types of solar shading for a southern orientation, their possible implementation with automated control systems, the relation with the window-to-wall ratio and finally the addition of vertical solar shading for eastern and western orientations.
