Abstract

The gas shock wave generated by spherical projectiles impacting gas-filled pressure vessel under hypervelocity was studied by means of ground impact simulation experiments and numerical simulation. Based on the AUTODYN software, the numerical simulation model of hypervelocity impact pressure vessel is established. An experimental method for obtaining the gas shock wave strength produced by hypervelocity impact on pressure vessel using PVDF piezoelectric sensor is proposed. The accuracy of the numerical simulation model is verified by the experimental results. The variation of gas shock wave generated by hypervelocity impact on pressure vessel with distance, internal gas pressure and projectile velocity are obtained.
