Abstract
Phase shifted fiber grating (PSFG) is a kind of important fiber gratings in optical communication, but is seldom used in optical sensing. Based on the coupled mode theory and transfer matrix method, the transmission and reflection spectra of PSFG has been theoretically studied. Then the strain and temperature characteristic of PSFG has been simulated using OptiGrating software. The simulation results show that the strain sensitivity is about 1.216pm/μe and the temperature sensitivity is about 0.0124nm/°C. This work is useful for optimizing design of optical sensors based on PSFG.
