Abstract

Concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) frame high pier is put forward. Some factors such as the column space, beam stiffness and the brace are taken into account to calculate the horizontal stiffness of the CFST frame high pier. Adopting the response spectrum method calculates the internal forces, and analyzes the response characteristics of the CFST frame high pier, then studies the trend of the column internal forces with the column space and beam stiffness changing.

Adopting dynamic time history method calculates the nonlinear seismic responses of the CFST frame high pier and traditional hollow thin-walled pier, and compares the differences between them. The results show that the CFST frame high pier has the reasonable stress distribution under the earthquake, and it is applicable for bridges in the high intensity earthquake areas.
