Abstract

On the bases of study on the kinetic parameters of crosslinking reaction, an effective approach for prescription design of XLPE cable insulating material is presented. The formula for calculation of reaction kinetic parameters of XLPE were obtained by using the method of Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). The present study on the dependence of activation energy (E), collision frequency factor(lnk/sub 0/), half-life temperature in one minute(T/sub 1/2/) on the content of crosslinking agent indicates that the smaller the T/sub 1/2/ value is, the higher the reaction activity of XLPE cable material is. The experimental results show that the dielectric properties and the reaction activity of XLPE material optimized in terms of reaction kinetic parameters are excellent, and the characteristics of cable fabricated using optimized XLPE material are also very good. Therefore the application of kinetic parameters of crosslinking reaction to the prescription design of XLPE materials is effective. >
