Abstract

A stroke or cerebrovascular accident is an abrupt onset of a neurologic deficit that lasts for at least 24 hours and is mainly of vascular origin. Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability in our country and leads to long-term disability and functional dependency. Hyponatremia is one of the common electrolyte abnormalities seen in patients with neurological disorders which may be due to SIADH or CSWS. Hypertension is one of the important risk factors and it is proven that anti-hypertensive therapy can reduce the risk of developing stroke.
