Abstract

In order to study the reflection polarization property of object surface and thoroughly investigate the influence degree of various factors on polarization property, a microfacet theory-based Torrance-Sparrow bidirectional reflectance distribution function (T-S BRDF) model was derived in detail in this paper, and concrete parameter analysis on each influence factor was conducted, indicating the feasibility of studying reflection polarization property with microfacet theory. The results showed that only on the premise of a fixed wavelength and an object surface roughness of less than a numerical value or within even smaller range, the reflected light had obvious polarization property, and incident angle as well as the included angle between microfacet normal and object surface normal and other factors also had a relatively obvious impact on it.
