Abstract

After China's entrance into WTO, the uncertain factors of the economic development will increase greatly, which is a tough test for China's economic competition in a short period, especially for foreign-invested enterprises in China. They will lose various advantages, which lead to the influence on employment security in foreign-invested enterprises. On the basis of integrating situations that foreign-invested enterprises are facing, the study analyzed the causes that led to the situation and put forward countermeasures and suggestions, so as to gradually improve employment security of employees in foreign-in vested enterprises under new atmosphere. Besides literature review, the survey by questionnaire on foreign-invested enterprises in Shanghai City was carried out, and Analysis of Quantitative Data was also applied in the study. The outcomes of the study were as follows: (1) Special labor relationship and single management purpose in foreign-invested enterprises influence and restrict their improvement of employment security. (2) China has the system of lawmaking, law executing and supervision that is distempered, and lacks the study on and reference from advanced international experiences. (3) Organizational and constructive level of Labor Union in foreign-invested enterprises is still low. Enterprises lack the institution that truly represents employees' rights and interests. (4) The collective bargaining system in foreign-invested enterprises is still at beginning stage of implementation. Therefore, employees cannot legally protect their own rights and interests by way of collective bargaining and signing the collective bargaining contract. (5) The speed of construction of social security is slow in China. The contents of social security and employment security are not perfected. There are no clear guidelines that can help improve employment security. The consciousness of employment security has not been established in whole society yet.
