Abstract

The aerodynamic sound generated from cylinders with three different cross-sections (●, ■, ♦) at Reynolds number of 20 000 are predicted by use of acoustic analogy method that is based on Curle's equation. In this study, the sound source is evaluated by the two-dimensional CFD technique are the correlation length obtained by the experiment. As a result, the predicted values of sound pressure are in reasonable agreement with the experimental ones. However, the relative comparison of the aerodynamic sound due to the various cross-sections can't be discussed by this method.
