Abstract

This study examines a method to deal with PV surplus power. One way to deal with this surplus power is to charge the power storage systems. We examined whether the surplus power can be used for power interchange between micro-grids instead of charging the storage battery. The method of power interchange was implemented by connecting a Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) between two micro-grids. From the experimental results, we can conclude that the two ways of handling surplus electric power are charging the battery or facilitating a power interchange by connecting a power flow controller integrated with two micro-grids, to reduce the reverse power flow in the power system.
