Abstract

Earthquakes have serious destructive and catastrophic impact on people's lives, because they always happened suddenly and unpredictably. Thus, it is necessary to conduct some research on urban earthquake emergency corridor planning. This paper analyzes the actual traffic demands of earthquake emergencies and comes up with the determinant factors of earthquake emergency corridor planning. In addition, this study proposes some principles on earthquake emergency corridor planning based on the consideration of those determinant factors. At the same time, a quantitative evaluation model based on road reliability is provided in this study. As a case study, EEC planning practice for Beijing is conducted.
