Abstract

This current paper mainly discuss about structure (micro) and behavior of the butt joints of stainless steel (SS-316L) plates(8 mm) using A-TIG welding process. Alumina is acted as flux material and acetone as solvent which used for clean the metal surface of the plates prior to welding operation. The critical processing constraints are selected in this research experiment such as welding current (50-100A) and velocity of flow argon gas for conducting weld joint experiment. The advancement of mechanical properties, various weld zones of microstructure and chemical compositions present in EDS pattern were investigated. EDS test confirmed that the presence of Cr was more in fusion and HAZ portions. tensile strength of base metal at center part of HAZ was noted(688.842 MPa) compare to other samples.
