Abstract

AbstractGas Hydrate is officially classified as a category 173 mineral resource, and its exploitation has become an important part of the national energy strategy, but much remains unknown about the geological hazards associated with the mining process and its exploitation. In this paper, the mechanism of geological hazards in Shenhu Area, South China Sea is explored and a theoretical system and the methods/procedures for high-resolution offshore seafloor modelling constrained by multiple conditions such as geology, geophysics and petrophysics is developed in consideration of the typical types of geological hazards of hydrate reservoirs and their factors to cause disaster and by utilizing the geological survey data on hydrate reservoirs in this area, providing the supports for subsequent dynamic simulation of submarine landslide hazard.KeywordsGas hydrateGeological hazardsRisk assessment
